  • Just an update for y'all...

Things going well stop Working as hard as ever stop Will post something interesting soon ah stop it already...

Actually my keyboard is on the fritz and I'll probably have to get a
new one. I haven't seen an apartment lately and hoepfully will do some
this weekend just looking, etc before the MC Sat run. I'm already
-365.25 DKP so I'll be raiding for a while.....

Class was a blast, worked with handcuffs again and it was fun... Sensei
had to leave early so we got to fool around and did some intensive
ground fighting... I got clocked with an elbow near the eye (glancing
blow no damage) and a fat lip, but nothing major.. I also almost got
choked out... that's what happens when you dont go to the gym every
single day... But what really took the cake was the fact that I got my
shoulder paintbrushed twice on the same arm.. ouch

That didn't help things in the morning and my left shoulderblade is
just a wee bit tight. It's better now for sure.. it'll just take about
a week to heal. So I'll be good as new in a few weeks.

Quote of the Day (by me):

    Hi.

I'm am not a Priest, or a Warlock,
and I don't have a pet to take aggro off you or summon your friends to and fro across the contenients
and I can't summon you 200 water or 200 bread at your whim, because I am not a 7-11.

I can regenerate my mana every 10 minutes, and freeze, nuke and blast anything that comes my way
    ... Mana premitting...
I am the first to get to an instance, because I have to toil out the water

I can proudly say that I have never ninja'd an item, backpack, weapon or armour.
I only hearthstone out of really bad groups that don't instance within an hour of getting together...

I can port people to Ironforge, Stormwind and Darnassus, and Orgrimarr,
Undercity and Thunder Bluff, if I was a Hordling, which I'm sure would
    be really sweet...
I can proudly wave the other team's flag in a battlegrounds match,
unless I get ganked by every other class out there... more than once

I am not overpowered, I am not a noob and Yes, I know how to play my class...

We are the Second most DPS class in Warcraft (should be the first)!
First Squishies of the game! And the best part of being a Caster!
    (before the nerfstick hits us)

    I am a Mage!!!

    And I am a WoWian!

    ... Thank you.

  • This is the second time that this has happened to me... Fuck off.

Now, I am not the kind of person that goes around, giving out eProps,
and commenting on other people's site in the negative manner.

But the fact that this has happened on my site, without provocation on
a generic post and the below is typed out AS A COMMENT, is pointless
and thus he has been stopped.

    ---------------
(I;ve removed his site link because he doesn't deserve the traffic there)

FUCK YOU COCKSUCKER! YOU WANNA DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT COME FIND ME AND FIGHT ME BITCH!

    ----------------------------

I will look for the means to premenantly ban this person.

This has also happened to me on RvB, about a person willing to give the
RvB site's version of eProps if I signed up with his website... If I
had the ability to give out a -1 WTF to this person above... I would.

    ----------

On a brighter side, into the second half of Farscape Season 2 and it's really a great series. I can't wait to see the rest.

  • Looking for apartments and life in general are just fun...

If you have ever seen a movie where a person is handcuffed and miraculously gets out of it... It a load of crap.

In class last week we worked with real handcuffs. If you are a muscular person, slipping them from behind your back is impossible. If you are tall and skinny (mostly skinny) you can easily get them in front of you... Like AkiJames did in class and had to see it twice to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me.

Also, doing a front roll with handcuffs on is NOT a good idea... Trust me I know, metal REALLY digs into the skin and cuts it fairly deeply. I was working with Val and she was late and so I was the handcuff-uke and I did a front roll.. so I blamed my 'injury' on Val.

    Sensei:
(to Me) You'd better get that looked at...
(to Val) Good work Val, you aren't even here five minutes and you took him down. Well done. Let's see who else you can take out.
Vx: Yes, this will be interesting to explain at work that I was beat up by a 17 year old girl.
BigDan: I suggest you don't tell them, lest you want your masculinity questioned.
    Vx: Point taken.

I'm at Episode 14 of Season 1 of Farscape and I am totally hooked into it and wondering why I didn't watch the series sooner...

  • Take me out to the ballgame, take me out of the country!

Today at work was boring. I had one person call me up saying: "My
computer won't turn on...", "Did you try turning on the power button?
Did you  check all the plugs? You did? Be right down" Checked over
the above mentioned things, turned on the power bar off and on and
viola/eureka! It worked... Much to her shock and flabergastedness...

So I spent the rest of the day fixing what occasionally needed to be
fixed and watching the first 2 seasons of Justice League on my external
harddrive... I didn't feel like playing WoW because of the way my desk
is situated and the fact that anyone can walk in and I know my system
    at work can't handle a 'quick' alt+tab.

But, I knew today was going to be a good day because I had a Tiger game
to go to. I haven't been to one since Company #2 or 3, gave me tickets
(you'll have to read back a bit). So I went with my friend Todd (who's
company provides the tickets and can't seem to get rid of them, because
    they are the Tigers).

Took the Tunnel bus over and in the process had fun listening to three
chicago fans yammer on about the White Sox, the fact that they think
Detroit is a cest-pool and that Canada is much cleaner and better,
    cheaper alcohol... etc etc...

Arrived and went through customs unscathed, although I was tempted to
answer if they asked where I was going: "Jihad... and a Tiger Game"
just kidding. I don't think I'd like to be introduced to the Americans
Cavity search team, plus I'd be late for the game.

If you haven't been to Comerica Park, visit it once, you won't have a
bad seat in the house. It's no Tiger Stadium, no that was a true
ballpark and everyone has fond memories of it. No Comerica Park is a
newer park that is Pitcher friendly sometimes and hitter friendly other
    times. www.detroittigers.com

We sat on the first base side in great seats about 27 rows on the third
base side (diagonal left) from the catcher. Behind us, sat 6 teenagers
or early twenties that said everytime or in general:

"I bet you a dollar, Gullien won't get a homerun"
"I bet you a quarter, this person won't get a hit"
"I bet you a penny, the White Sox will lose" "So I get a penny if they win and you a penny if they lose"
    "...., strikes out"
    "...., bunts"
    etc, etc, etc

It was only quiet when they all left for one inning to do who knows
what and I turned to the guy behind me and said: "I don't know if they
are more interested in baseball or betting"

Then they started talking about them touching each other, etc... then a
comment was made that the fans were booing because this person was an
ass and that they would kill him... (I don't know I was watching the
game) and I turned around and said, "I'll take this pencil and gladly
help out, starting with you, and then you and then you... because I'm
    bored..."

Tigers did well for a team that is 71-86. This will be Alan Trammel's
last year for sure. Great player. I loved him as a player, but not many
players have that coaching gene/knowledge... He's no Sparky Anderson,
    that's for sure.

Tigers had 2 Homers to Left Field, both single shots and some nice
singles and RBI's from other players. Nate Robertson got the much
deserved win and received a standing ovation once he was taken off the
mound in the top half of the 6th inning. We had a bit of a scare when
they brought on the hard and fast throwing Rodney... Guy throws 93+ MPH
heat, curve etc, but no accuracy whatsoever... The first 5 pitches were
balls... and the crowd cheered loudly once he got a strike and then
cheered again when he got another strike.... He eventually loaded the
bases and got a force out at second base and the game was finally over.

It had been too long since I had been there and I missed the smell of
the grass. The taste of the Tiger hotdogs. The yelling of the vendors
up and down the aisleways. Ah, the magic that is baseball.

    Vx Out.

  • What's new, what's new... Apartment Hunting anyone?

Well I officially began apartment hunting over the weekend. I know this
is going to be a daunting task and my father has been supportive of it
(always has), my grandmother as well (but I need to get out more and
stop being addicted to games)... My mother on the other hand, I haven't
    told her yet.

See that's the thing, she always says that I should stick around and I
know that she is worried about losing me, etc etc. But doesn't a
mother's love last forever? I'm sure she understands this and just
doesn't want to let me go, but I'm just sick and tired of being told to
    do this and that. I'm not 13, I'm not 10, I'm not 18.... 26 and
counting and I cannot just keep living here, eventhough I am paying
    rent.

But this weekend took the cake for me.  Friday night I'm raiding
MC till 1am (we cleared the 6 bosses, although I wasn't in on the full
raid until the very last one) I was DL'din Farscape all of the seasons
and just generically leveling up. She was just constantly saying, it's
this time in the morning or this time at night, shut it off... W.T.F. I
set aside this time because 1) I had nothing else better to do. 2) It's
a scheduled event and I had nothing else better to do.

Saturday morning, I cut the lawn at 9am. Four hours later (and I'm in
the middle of a ST Mage quest run) she asks me to go into town pick up
what I thought was a big bottle of floor hardener for the floor. It
turned out to be a small bottle (like what you would use to dye one's
hair). It took me an hour to get back. So I called her and asked, when
she knew about it. She said, what did that matter. Before I could blurt
out explictives (I calmed down) and said, if she knew eariler, then I
could of gone after the grass was cut.

Saturday night, MC Raid we killed Majordomo Executus and were up until
2:30am, she was still constantly bitching at me for being up that
late.  Before that, Dave and Jenn called asking if I wanted to go
to a Stag and Doe party. They called as they were driving out of town
towards my area. I usually like a day or two warning on an event like
that, so I politely passed. Meanwhile, Jenn in the background was
saying: You never want to hang out with us anymore.... No Jenn, I don't
want to hang out with you anymore because you are a 'negative person'
that is constantly trying to put me down and I don't give a shit about
you. Dave on the other hand, will have his hands full... let us bow our
    heads in prayer, anyhow...

If anything I just wanted to sit relax and since the weather wasn't
great and rainy outside, I stayed in and saved money and played WoW.

Honestly it is not like I am a fricking recluse. I workout. Play golf
(when I can). I cook for myself. I enjoy going out on weekends (if I
lived in the city I know I'd go out more).

    So Apartment hunting I went.

I printed off a few places and called and left messages at others. My
price range is not totally limited, but fair. I just want a nice place
that is safe, clean, close to places like restaurants and has high
speed DSL internet. I don't care about Cable TV and I don't need much
of a phone. If anything I'll decorate in the japanese manner because
they have great simplistic taste, and know how to save space as well.

I called up my dad and told him that I started looking at
apartments.  He's been living in apartments most of his life so
his knowledge is very helpful. I'll post what he sent me below.

So, I called up my first aparment landlord, and was able to view the
apartment that same day at two. I arrived and knew immediately that
this was not a good neighbourhood. When you have a family of 6 in a
corner house with 3 vans and a pitbull with loads of tattoos smoking
pot on the front porch, to me says: WARNING!

But undaunted, I went to this tri-plex and it was the top right
apartment. Let's put it this way, my room in which I sleep is 8' wide
by 16' long... Split my bedroom in thirds and that was the size of this
apartment. But for $450 a month, and parking in an alley... it's all a
learning experience... that's what I keep telling myself.

So I look at my answering machine today and two LL (Landlords) that I
called, called me back. I'll have to make appointments with them to see
    their places.
    ---------------

    Utilities

Renters have to pay for the
electricity (also called “hydro” because you get it from the hydro company) they
use so when you get an apartment you have to contact the hydro company (is it
still called city Hydro?) and asked to be connected.  They set up an account
and then send a bill every one or two months for the electricity you use.
Usually this includes the electricity for the hot water heater and usually there
is a charge for renting the hot water heater if the landlord doesn’t own it as
part of the building.  Electricity, including that used for making hot water,
isn’t that much on a monthly basis and it depends on usage.  What really impacts
the hydro bill is if there is an air conditioner so in the summer the bill will
increase.  Also, if the apartment is heated by electric base board heaters (like
mine) then the bill gets bigger in the winter.   My apartment does not retain
heat well so for November through March I will see hydro bills of about
$150/month, sometimes more.  For April, May and June my hydro bill will be about
$50/month (basically lights, stove and hot water).  The same for September and
October.  For July and August when I use the air conditioner at night I will see
hydro bills about  $75/ month, sometimes less if it is not too
    hot.

Try to find someplace that is not
heated by electricity but if it is you should budget about $100/month
recognizing that some months will be more, some less.   During the high usage
months you will want to keep a little extra in the bank account so that a big
bill won’t cause trouble.  Your place as well as your old place and
Grandma’s etc are heated by a forced air furnace that operates on oil or gas.
This is cheaper than electricity.  Ask the landlord how the place is heated and
what the monthly hydro bills are usually.  If the place is not heated by
electricity ask what the heating bill usually is.

    Telephone

    Some people include telephone when
they talk about utilities.  I don’t and tend to think of it as a separate item.
Nevertheless, the tenant is responsible for getting the apartment phone hook-up
    with
    Bell and then paying the
monthly bill.  Whether you get a conventional telephone hook-up or not is up to
you.  You may want to forgo that type of hook-up and just use your cell for
people to call and leave messages.  It costs me about $35/month for the standard
    Bell hook-up plus any long
distance charges.  I don’t have any internet connection so my phone is just the
    standard old-fashioned phone hook-up.

    Cable TV
    Internet

    Another monthly expense will be
whatever cable TV internet connection you get and whether this connection is
separate from the phone hook-up.  My cable TV bill (no internet, just the basic
    Rogers package) is $55/month.
Some of the high-rise apartment buildings will give you free cable TV so you
have to ask.  Also some buildings may not have high-speed internet cable
capability.  You can see that the cable/TV/internet/phone/cell phone combination
can really add up in a hurry if you don’t think it through.

    Insurance

Depending on what is in the
apartment you may want to get insurance to cover the loss due to a fire or
theft.  Usually the company that does your car insurance will handle a tenant’s
package as well.  This will cost about $250/year and you can usually arrange for
a monthly automatic bank account withdrawal.  These packages also provide what
is called liability coverage which would kick in if someone is injured in your
apartment and sues you (example, you open the door and your guest comes in and
trips on the carpet and breaks his arm and then sues you – no fault of your own,
just an accident but the insurance pays.  Or as happened to me one time, the
bathtub overflowed and caused water damage in the apartment below.  Those people
got mad at me (just an accident, sorry, I said) but they filed a claim for a new
bed and some stuff and my insurance protected me against the financial
    loss.)

    Parking

Check to see if parking is included
    in the rent.

    All
of these things add up, as you can see, with the hydro bill and the
telephone/internet/cable/TV thing making up the most of it.  You
can lower that amount by finding something that will keep the hydro
bill low (an apartment heated by something other than electric
baseboards like forced air furnace like your house and your old
place.  Also when you look at apartments ask questions about how
the place is heated and what the monthly hydro charges usually are,
what the monthly heating bills are).  You could consider a place
with no air conditioning, but I would not suggest that because it gets
too hot during the summer to be without it.  Also, think through
the telephone/cell phone/TV/cable/internet thing as you will likely be
able to find some combination that costs less.

The more apartments you see the
better idea you will get as to how much more beyond monthly rent you are likely
to have to pay.  Also the more you see the better able you will be to figure out
all these combinations of costs etc.

    -----------------

So that's about it. But I am curious, please tell me your apartment
hunting and/or living stories when you first got your own apartment. I
might be able to learn something.

  • I recently 'purchased' and if by 'purchased' I meant Downloaded and by
Downloaded I meant... downloaded, yes.... and by RIAA who? ...
    nevermind

    anyhow.........

I just watched Final Fantasy: Advent Children If you have not
seen it. DL..er ... Purchase it from your local retailer
(torrentspy.com) search for Advent Children and away you go. Its about
700MB, quality is excellent and available in Japanese (those that can
understand it, I'm still working on that) and English Sub.

It takes place after Final Fantasy VII (that's seven) and uses the same
characters from the game. It got me to actually reinstall it. I forgot
how good of a game it was. That and the fact that the graphics compared
    to now, suck lol...

The movie uses the same technology from the movie, Final Fantasy:
    Spirits Within
... misunderstood movie, awesome effects. The only thing I remember
from that movie was Donald Sutherland's voice saying: It's .....
cold.... oh so cold... (while looking into the sunlight)

Weird I know... and yet, he didn't die, go figure.

So yes, go watch it.  You definitely won't be disappointed.

  • I'm finally back!

Good god, its been too long since I've written in this thing and thank
the DSL gods that are up there, that I finally got my modem back... I
    was going into withdrawls....

I received my modem in the mail yesterday and it brought tears too my eyes ;) Oh the joy of 4MB DSL connection.

But, actually I've been keeping myself occupied for the past few weeks.
Started to work out again, went to class on Wed and even before that I
went for a 30min workout before class... and I never do that, ever.

Class I have missed for the past three weeks and it was good to see that they missed me :)

    Comments like:
    Hey, who's the new guy.
    What's up Rookie.
    Fresh Meat.
    and from Sensei:
S: Where did you get that uniform and patch?
Vx: I killed a guy named Noah for it
    Sensei laughs

But that workout before class really seemed to help... I wasn't winded
and was jumping and rolling around like a mountain goat on the alps...
no link there, but it was fun.

There is no such thing as bad weather for Golf... those that say differently are wussies.

So this sunday, I'm golfing with Todd at the New course, by the old
course. Should be fun, our first choice was all booked up and we
couldn't even get on on Saturday until 3pm. I haven't played the New
course at all this year and my only other time was with my Dad a few
months ago. Speaking of which I should call him. I think I'll do that
    now.

  • No DSL... and no WoW Raiding ... make Vx go something, something....

You figure that if you've been away for a week that things will be exactly as you left them when you get back.

Not the case, in my case...

No, everything was where it was supposed to be... except my DSL
connection that is. Apparently it had been offline for awhile and I
know it was working when I left last Friday... So I call up my DSL
connection company, at 8:30 in the morning... get a person who's accent
I can't understand... I jump through all the hoops, etc.... Only to be
put on hold to be transfered to the next level of tech support....

So 15 minutes later, on hold... I get the next level of support...
During this whole time I'm on the phone with these people, I can hear a
clicking and a hissing in my phone... Needless to say I pointed that
    out to them (stupid mistake)...

Tech #2: Well, it will take 2 to 7 days to get a head office person from Central office to call and check your phone....
Vx: So I won't get charged for this month then right?
Tech #2: If we cant get your internet working you won't get charged for the week that it was down...
Vx: So I'm without the internet at all for a week
    Tech #2: maybe longer
    Vx: Great...
Tech #2: If there is anything else let me know and thank you for choosing... *click*

So ya, it sucks that I don't have the net at home now... which is and isn't a bad thing I guess.... More sleep, etc etc...

Just wanted to keep you all up to date... At least I have the net at work...

     ----------------

    * DSL Update *

Swapped DSL Modems with my parents, tested it out, it works fine. So mine is kaputz....
Called up DSL company, twice, they hung up on me the first time... They
are sending one out in 3 -5 business days... It's better than nothing
    methinks...

  • Ok, I'm still stuck here...

I've been stuck at my Grandparents this past week and a little bit
because the floors that this company was supposed to do did them and
screwed up the sanding horribly to the point of ripples in the
woodwork... So, now another company is coming in to fix the mistake...
I left my computer all alone for almost 2 weeks...

More importantly, I missed 3 raids, 1 JJ class all because of this
sanding screw up. Damn... So, if anyone has been trying to get ahold of
me on MSN or whatever, sorry, I haven't been able to respond to you, N.

    Sleep, Sleep and more Sleep...

I don't know why, but I've been tired this past few days. I've been so
tired that I missed a JJ class that I could of gone too, but I just
couldn't keep my eyes open. I was working days last week 7am - 3pm and
luckily I was at my Grandparents place because I couldn't deal with the
5am wakeups from the small town that I live in and drive an hour into
work, do work, and then drive all the way back... I would of probably
    killed myself or someone else...

So in grand total I sleep over 50 hours in that span, plus the normal
8+ hours for regular sleep. This was probably due to all of those late
nights on the computer (Why did I join a West Coast Server for WoW...
    why!!!).

    Boredom has set in...

Without my computer, and using Gram's computer (which luckily has the
net, whew!), I still have access to the Net, and a few games here and
there... Icewind Dale (which I picked up), Smugglers 3, Mahjogg Master
6 (what its a fun game :) )... But, it the copious amounts of websites,
BitTorrent programs that I truly miss... and WoW, but I'm actually glad
I've taken a bit of a break from it, it's getting boring personally...
well, boring until patch 1.7 comes out, that new instance comes out,
    etc etc...

So, I've done the following this week:

    - Saw Transporter 2 (Good movie, see it once, won't see it again... hell, rent it on DVD if you have too)
    - Saw Brothers Grimm (Meh, it was an OK movie... nothing spectacular)
    - Played a round at the old course, just to get my swing in order (story to follow)
    - Sushi and drinks with CM, Erwin and Kristen (story to follow)
    - Almost done IWD I (Ok, I cheated, I didn't want to spend that many
hours on it (which I have :S) and buffed up my characters... sue me),
still have HoW and IWD II to play

Golf and a little more golf.. hey, I've had time

So, it was Saturday. I woke up, had breakfast and it was 10am. So I
went out and was going to hit a bucket of balls but I sub-conciously
made a wrong turn and ended up at a golf course that I normally play.
Forgot my scorecard and just focused on my swing and hitting in
general. Things were going great overall. Made some birdies, pars a few
    bogies, etc...

    Then came hole numbero 6.

This hole has always plauged me, because it has a huge ditch on the
left that runs all the way to the road, a huge lake on the right, thing
fairways till it opens up by a tree and two large bunkers that protect
the front of the green... and this is only at a 260 yard par 4.

But, what made it worse was the fact that there were four HUGE guys
playing golf, in carts and weren't driving or hitting more than
100yards. So after waiting for them for about 20 minutes (it was
cooling down my shot) I teed up one and hit a nice fade left to right
down the left side. They were on the green but pissed that I hit at
them. So I teed up another shot. Nice easy swing and landed close to
the right bunker and they looked at me again. Finally they finished
putting and I took my time to the green, hit my two balls and as I was
walking up the path to the next hole, they had just hit they're balls...

That happened for 7, 8 and 9.  At 8 I got pissed and hit 5 balls
in their general direction, which none hit them. But I did get a birdie :)

Caught up with them at 9 and they still hadn't hit... One of the guys said:

Guy with leg brace: Do you want to go ahead of us?
Vx: Nah, that's ok, I need the break
Fourth Guy in Cart: Haven't you had a break at each of these holes.
Vx: Ya I was waiting for you guys, thanks for the break

I finished my round and went to lunch at Kelsey's and chatted with a
few waitress'. Went to see Brothers Grimm, chatted with CoderMike at
his house. Played a bit of Far Cry. Then we went to Best Buy, where he
had to pickup a wireless Router for his mom and brother and it's just
too long of a boring story to tell....

But, Erwin called CM up and CM asked if I wanted to go for Sushi. I
said yes and we went at 8 after having a beer with Kristen at her
house, which she showed us her iPod Mini (512MB) which is so cool that
I think I'll get the regular iPod (I'll implement the 'chop off
anyone's hands that touches said iPod too' and fill out the paperwork
after... sign with your stump, here, here and inital here...)

So we went to a new sushi bar, which I never noticed before, of course
I haven't been in the city in a while, nevermind downtown for that
    matter...

Had the 40 pieces and 3 rolls for $90. Erwin and I had the Plum Wine $7
a glass.... we only had one glass. Salad with Carrot/Ginger dressing to
start, Miso soup next, I ordered the green tea, we all had water. The
Tempura came, we dug in, the rolls came and there was so much variety
that I can't remember it all.  Then Kristen and I ordered a few
more rolls, one with quail egg and caviar, which was great, raw egg
though placed gingerly ontop of the caviar, and personally it had no
taste to me... just like an egg.

I wrote down the name of the plum wine and vowed to look it up online..
because it reminded me of Tokashky (bad spelling, but its a Hungarian
dessert wine, very expensive and really well aged)

After dinner, we went to a cocktail bar and I had a Chocolate martini,
didn't finish it all because I was driving, dropped off the respective
parties to their houses and drove to my second home.

I looked up that Plum Wine which was Gekkeikan, a brand that serves
Sake as well... I found it... I then found it at the LCBO and it was
for $13.50 a bottle (tax included in the price) so between Erwin and I
we drank (by their standards) a bottle between us... The bottle holds
750ml... I know you can get more than two glasses out of that .... So,
I bought 2 bottles and opened one for Gram and Gramp... They wwere
surprised because it tasted exactly like the Hungarian dessert wine for
    ALOT less....

So that was my week roughly.

Getting ready for the night shift now, I'll chat at you all later

    Vx Out
