  • A week gone and the morning begins again...

I honestly don't know what it is about the morning shift at work...
it's boring and many times I feel like I want to fall asleep. I guess I
should stop going to bed at 1 or 2am after playing too many online
    games...

    Yesterday.... Golf anyone?

It was one of the most gorgeous days out there that I have ever seen.
So, I called up CoderMike and asked if he wanted to hit a bucket of
balls.  He said around 1 or 2pm.... Then he asked if I wanted to
do a LBRS instance run... I stupidly said yes... but 4 hours later, I'm
driving into town pickedup CM and we met Erwin at Bowlero to hit a
bucket of balls. Bowlero is a bowling alley and many years ago it used
to be packed... I'm guessing it still is because it bought the land
behind it and turned it into a driving range, go fig. All in all it
wasnt too bad. I still need to work on my driving though. My irons were
    really doing well that day.

I also met a guy that is a member of my old Golf Course (about 5 years
ago, where I played 120 round in one year... hardcore I know :) ) We
started talking, I gave him my card and a few pointers on his driving
and he asked if I was in the neighbourhood of the Ol' Course that I
should look him up and play a round with him. He's also into mutual
    funds.

Then with Erwin, CM, etc we had 2 for 1 appeitizers at the SandBox pub,
attached to Bowlero.  Good food and we spent about two hours or so
just talking in general about WoW, the horrible dubbing of Asian,
Chinese/Japanese martial arts movies, the translations from Chinese
(Mandiran or otherwise) or Japanese for that matter are truly not
    accurate.

But I have to now go fix a computer... I'll be right back.... 7 Hours later ... :S

.... a few hundred meg DL's of updates, patches and listening to
Evanescene: Fallen for that long (Luckily I like that CD and the music)
I finally got the god blessed computer working *Knock on a really large
tree*... so he should be all set for his move to Mexico... The things I
    do for people...

My payment? A 12 year old bottle of Scotch and 3 books...

So I went to dinner by myself at the local pub and since I hadn't
eatten in 9 hours or so, I ordered 12 chicken wings and a bowl of
Rigatonni with Alfredo sauce and italian sausage and a side salad.... 3
glasses of water later, I managed to finish it all...

Now, I'm just finishing typing this out.... and feeling a bit bloated... lol

    Oh in other news:

My folks wanted to see what all the fuss was about "Red vs.
Blue" so they popped in Season 1 and I don't think that they got
through 3 episodes... oh well too each their own...

    *shrugs*

No worries, I still love the series and can't wait for Season 4 starting production soon :)

Now, too relax and enjoy the rest of the night

  • It's 9am in the morning and I'm not at work yet....

    Why do you ask?

Well, we are now required to work the afternoon shift. So from 2pm -
10pm for one week on and one week off (for the first month) myself and
Nate will be switching shifts. Lucky me I get the first one :S

We, including StevyK (my boss) aren't happy with it, but the head of
finance says her computer screws up around 6pm whenever she is about to
leave and none of us are here (because we leave at 4pm).  Sucks
    hmm?

Also, I will be missing JJ class and that really takes the cake. But a
jobs a job and you really have to bite the bullet and do the work.

What else has been happening... hmmm

Granm's Bday was last week she turned a wonderful 80ish (give or take a
few years :) ) and she's just as active as ever, same with
    Granp...

I'm officially 90 days and it took me 2 weeks to learn that I CAN in
fact apply for my benefits... so I pushed back my eye appointment till
my next afternoon shift, two weeks from now.

Movie Wise: Saw Fanastic Four, really well done movie... just dont take
anything into it and you are fine.  Saw Wedding Crashers. THE
FUNNIEST MOVIE OF THE SUMMER so far! Vince V and Own Wilson are a great
combo and it was amazing... its worth the purchase of a DVD for sure.

    Class has been great.

Saving up to get an apartment in town for work... planning it out and saving up.

WoW News: Warning! Nerd type activites past this point...

Fistand almost has the full Magister set, just need 2 more pieces.
Ganish is at 290/300 Alchemy... Finally killed Luci and Mag in MC on
Saturday. Hopefully we can do it again next week.

End of Nerdy news... Whew, you survived! lol

Other than that not too much, I will be using these afternoon shifts to go to the gym and get my cardio in place.

  • RvB: TO 2005... a truly kick ass event!

I had never been to an event, convention, whatever you call it.
But I was sure as hell glad that I stopped by this one. It was the best
weekend ever! I arrived early and ended up just walking around Downtown
Toronto. I arrived at about 12:15pm and saw the line.

This was just the beginning... about 300 people attended and everyone had a blast!

The lineup inside was long too, luckily I got in around the beginning

This is Elnea. She came from the States with her friend just to show
off Donut.  Little did I know that she is a great comic/artist as
well as a really funny person.

Here's Elnea again with her friend OboeCrazy and one of two guys I met at the enterance that I made friends with.

Here's one of Elnea's comics, she's drawing (no pun intended) a following :) I'll be sure to have to read her work tonight.

Elnea and OboeCrazy, drawing an Avatar for a RvB Forumer

Close up of the drawing, all in just 10 minutes of work.. wish I could do that too

MC: "The Molson Indy is in town this weekend, they've been doing the
same track for the past 20 years.  Dr. Phil is here in town as
well. He hasn't said anything new in a long time. And that brings me to
    my point about Jesus..."

OobeCrazy: "Jesus wouldn't want you to be a Cockbite!"

All five of us cracked up laughing!

MC (didn't hear the comment): "Ok, I didn't think it was that funny, moving onto Season 1"

The gods themselves arrive to thunderous applause!

Gus sees me! (Probably because I took about 50 pictures just of them
arriving... you think that would of gotten their attention?)

Just a quick intro by Bernie and Gus and off to watching Seasons 1 through 3.

The MC was in true awe of Gus and Bernie... that or he was trying to get the DVD started, I can't remember...

After watching all 3 Seasons the guys were ready to answer all the questions that we fans could toss at them

Since Gus was the only one with the mic, and the Crew of RvBTO didn't
have those illusive 'D-Batteries' ... er.. I mean 9Volt batteries,
JessKid ponied up with one and tossed it to Gus, who made a valiant
diving grab for it but came up short...

Once the battery was attached and Bernies mic was working, his phone
wouldn't stop ringing... Even in the hall he could be heard to
humourous results. "Gus is hogging all the mic time that son of a
    bitch" all in fun :)

There were some tough questions that were asked and Bernie had to
ponder them... Of course, Gus was pondering Elnea's custom Donut doll
that she painted and graciously gave to them.

Not too be out done, Bernie brought out the big gun... Of course he had
to turn it back over to the Customs officier (Fan that made it but
didn't get to finish it) at the end of the event.

Not to be out done, while Bernie was about to answer a question, an old
fashioned Texas shoot out commenced and Donut got the drop on Bernie.

While Gus listened to a multi-question from a member of the audience, he had Donut keep a close eye out for him.

Survey says? More questions keeping the flow going and the crowd on the edges of their seats.

Not to be outdone, there was some Monkeying around(about) and some Tom Foolery (not his real name)

Of course Donut couldn't do everything, there were some questionable
ballots above, where two people received the same number on two
separate occasions... The guys were great and understanding and all
four people received Season 3 DVD's signed by them.

Of course this event wouldn't of been possible without the fantasic
Crew of RvBTO 2005! Way to go them! These signs were created by an RvB
Forumer named Lukie, a truly amazing artist.

The crew received a Signed copy of Season 3 by the WHOLE RvB Cast!

Of course Gus was kind enough to customize my DVD - "You Backstabbing Cockbite!"

Luckily I ordered Season 3 and it should be arriving anytime now!

Just a little side note: the voice of Captain Butch Flowers, is one of
the guys from the Band: Bare-Naked Ladies named Ed Robertson. Little
    celebrity gossip for you :)

    --------
    Quote of the Day:

Besides the MC/Jesus Cockbite quote above, which I find hilarious...
    Here's a quote from Season 3:

Capt Flowers: "If I wasn't your superior officier I'd give you both a great big bear hug and make you call me Daddy."
Church: "Thank god for the chain of command?"

  • I'm not a very spontenaious ... sponten... go ona whim person...

But on Thursday, I went to the http://www.redvsblue.com website and saw that Simmons and Church were going to be at Ryerson University in Toronto!

I immediately pickedup the phone and called CoderMike and said:

Vx: "RvB is going to be in Toronto this weekend, let's go it's a once and a lifetime experience!"
CM: "Can't. Have to watch the house and my dog..."
Vx: "Let your bro do it.. .it's RvB! Once in a Lifetime man!"
CM: "We'll see, call me later"

I did and he still couldn't go... oh well his loss!

So I ordered my ticket on Thursday night to leave Friday after work. my
Dad was at the station, we chatted for a bit and then he went to do his
    golf tournament.

On Saturday, I woke up early and made myself a great breakfast of a
Swiss cheese Omelett with Herbed Turkey and walked down to Ryerson
university... Needless to say I arrived early... 9:30am to be exact. I
ended up walking around Yonge Street and saw the Street festival
setting up. I ended up taking pictures in the Eaton centre before the
stores were opening. Other than that not much happened, however I did
get my fix of Martial Arts in.

I was walking down Gerrad and Young when I looked up and saw an
Aikido/Judo dojo, the door even said walkins welcome... so I did just
that walked in, sat down and watched for about a good 2 hours... Like I
said I had to waste time, and it was enjoyable to watch.

But, I need to get to bed... I'll post about the event tomorrow because I have pics and I want to upload it :)

  • As magicbeanstalk put it... the dark side is strong in you, young one...

Ok, I must admit that the previous post wasn't my finest moment.... I
still have some resentment towards Jenn. I personally hate being
screwed around. That's what the jist of that post was. But I'm fine
    now... well, better anyhow.

I went to that gathering of Dave's, helped him tie up his boat, talked
with an old Scouter friend of ours that had his boat in the same marina
and stuck around for half-hour and then I took off to play Golf.
Jenn wasnt there. Dave wouldn't respond to questions of: "So is Jenn
working today?" Which leads me to believe that things aren't going too
well there... I just wasn't that persceptive....

    Some friend I am.

But, I left him a message now, for a beer/lunch/dinner this coming weekend as a make-up for not going back to the gathering.

But, Golf turned out well I shot a 44, CoderMike shot 58, Kristen shot
57 and Erwin shot 56... it was a beautiful day, drinnking and golf was
    had by all. :)

After that a quick dinner of Wendy's, then went out with the above
group to our old hang out, Tilt aka Jimmy G's... and played pool and
    drank until 1am

Driving home was fun (only had 1 beer) until 2am. Slept in till 11am the next day, or same day...

    ------------
    Quote of the Day:

Getting Carded at Jimmy G's is always fun, I got a wink from Jimmy
(he's also Asian) because he remembers me, but I played along.

He takes Kristen's card... looks at it, at her a few times...

Jimmy: Are you sure this is you?
    Kristen: Ya
    Jimmy: What's your last name?
    Kristen tells him.
Jimmy: Nope, that's not it. Your last name is Lee. You're now an Asian. Have a great time all (with a smile)

    And we walked in.

  • Happy Canada Day!

In this day of our year 2005, it is Canada Day! "WooHoo! It's Party Time!" As the Immortal Homer Simpson would say.

The Gathering...Bring the Fireworks and all the ammunition you can:

Jenn sent me an MSN Message a few days ago... it read:
Having a BYOBF this Friday... between 1 and 2. Call for details.

So I called, Dave picked up the phone and we chit chatted for all of 30
seconds. Jenn asks in the background who it was, he replied it was
Kurt, and for the rest of the conversation while I was asking Dave
questions about times, place and was it both booze and food I was
supposed to bring, Jenn was talking constantly in the background...

Dave said for me to call Thursday to get final plans. I did at 3:30pm
(just gotten off work early) and they didn't get to return my call
    until 9:10pm that night.

The brief conversation that we had, Dave said it was being held at his marina. Bring your own booze and food, shit like that.

For what its worth, Dave is still my friend no matter who he hangs out
with now, or who he is marrying. But she's in for a surprise.

You really have no Idea who you are dealing with do you?

I have always been raised that if someone does something wrong to you,
you should confront them, ask for them to apologize, and if they don't
apologize, don't worry about it.  Karma will get them in the end.

I haven't had a challenge like this for a long time and it's good to get those preverbial juices flowing again :) I'll explain.

I am one to hold a grudge for a very long time... Over the past few
years, I've mellowed a bit. Call it intution, call it fate, call it
anything you want. But I really don't care anymore what people have to
say about me. I mean, I belive that I have been raised well enough to
be kind to those around me. I have stuck by it and people remember me
for it.  That's what I hold onto. My ability to make friends and
keep them.  Whether or not those friends talk to me again, or I
don't see them in a few years, etc... They still recognize me.

So, the fact that Jenn obviously doesn't want me around Dave because I
haven't been over to cut their lawn, paint their house, clean their
boat or do their maintenance and she attributes that to a negative
attitude... just makes me want to be the better person and be the best
friend, the cheerful friend all for the grand scheme of..... wait for
    it.... I know you'll enjoy this :) ....

    To piss Jenn off.

Obviously I've struck a nerve with her because she has said the things
that she did.  It's one thing to drive a wedge between life-long
friends... It's another to drive one between Dave and myself... We have
been through too much for something like this to happen.

She's in for one hell of a fight :)

Now, I know you must be thinking: But, Vx! They are getting married, they are in love, etc etc...

Trust me I have NO intention of breaking up their marriage or anything
along that line. That is my respect for Dave. That will never change no
matter the circumstances. This is personal :)

Untill she apologizes too me for the words that she said that she
nearly drove me to a mental breakdown I might add... I will not let
this go. I know this won't happen, but if she does, then we can go back
to being friends.  For now, she is... not an enemy no, no no...
but a challenge :) She wants to try her hand at physcology (pardon the
spelling) against me? Go for it. I've been trained by the best.

Let the games commence :) It's going to be one HELLUVA battle... I'll
sell tickets and popcorn too :) Everyone gets a front row seat!

Vx applying the cammo-paint, ready for action... wooha!

June 27, 2005

  • Ok... now its a record... 13 days...

I'm sorry, oh so sorry that I haven't posted in sooooooo long, but I've been busy.

First off, work... I've had this Architectural Desktop Project for the
past 4 months or so and in the past 2 weeks, I've been transposing my
chicken scratch of writing on paper to the computer.... That combined
with the program itself saying: "Nope, after 18700 objects and 9MB's
later, I'm going to crash on you for no reason.. but, I'll be nice and
ask if you want to save and then recover the files.. have a nice day..."

It's done that about 11 times so far ... ugg

But, I have to work the 2 week Shut down period and I really wanted to
goto NS again too... At least to keep going to JJ and to see N again :D

She's going through a rough time with roomates and its one thing to
cheer her up on MSN, but I'm more of a people person. Every little bit
    helps in my mind :)

Ribs Heal, Muscles mend.... Knowledge, lasts forever...

JJ seminar last saturday (Or was it the Saturday before...) went
extremely well.. I was in so much pain (the good kind, if there is
any... ;) ) but the refresher course was nice and the rest of the class
(those that could show up) finally caught a glimpse of what BigBen and
I had been gushing in utter joy and the retelling of stories for the
    past year :)

I also learned that going to a Chinese buffett afterwards is THE most
rewarding ... well, reward... that one can do after a seven and a half
    hour seminar...

Then drinks afterwards at Sensei's house and the retelling of funny
stories fully retold in all their colour and glory that made us laugh
our asses off till the wee hours of the morning... All stories were
told with various Simpson's quotes in between to keep the mood going :)

Homer: "Stupid, Itchy Church Pants!!! One-size fits all my ass!" was the common and funny one :)

Then last wednesday in class, during breakfall rolls, I twisted my
ankle... Its about 90% now... I should be ready for this coming Class...

WoW our 'Virgin' Molten Core run.... 5+ hours later....

This was my true test of a gamers will, determination and endurance...
I personally hadn't done something like this since two instances:

    1) My 6.5 hour Age of Empires: Age of Kings Battle on Blackforest
random map, English vs. English against my Clan Leader Snoopy.... I
lost but, I built 22 Castles and still hold the record :)
    2) Since the Lan Party at the Ramada Inn... that was longer from 7pm till 4am ....

This was our Guild's first Molten Core run.. Those that have played WoW
know that it is a hard hard, (dare I say again) hard instance.... I can
safely see way you would need a 40-person group...

Well, we did it with 26... and only got to the second guy... Magamarda
(or somesuch wording ....) a really big Cerberus sized dog that was
    just as mean...

Just to give you a heads up, I play on Cenarius, guild's name is Maelstrom and our website is: www.maelstromguild.net

There is an amazing video that a fellow Guildie made a really great
video of our run... it's 200Meg, but its really worth it. He's truly
    talented in that aspect.

I'll post the link here: http://d14.yousendit.com/E/0MWGLLRIHSPD12IMV8ZNSHRRH9/Maelstrom-MC.wmv
    (Right-click to Save it)

Enjoy :) It was a fun time for sure and I'll be doing it again...

  • Well, I could of sworn I put that post somewhere....

Well, ok.. now that I have all your attention let's review whats been happening the past few weeks.

JJ is going very well.. yes.. very well indeed. The hardware is working
out wonderfully and I don't have to worry about someone literally
crushing my nuts in a move... it's like Samurai Battle Armour, only
about 75lbs lighter and more roomy.. anyhow I degress.

This coming Saturday Sensei's Sensei will be down for a kick ass 7 hour
seminar similar to the one that I did in NS last year (I do believe)...
I will also have the privilage of video taping not only this seminar,
but a special Sunday seminar where I get to see the techniques from
White all the way to Blue. I am truly honoured.

Speaking of martial arts, I have been looking for Akira Kurosawa's
'Seven Samurai' for a number of years and have never found it... Last
    Friday I found the motherload.

It's the Criterion collection of Akira Kurosawa's 'Sever Samurai', 'The
Hidden Fortress', ' and the films that launched the 'Spaghetti Western
movement in Italy': Yojimbo and Sanjuro... It cost me a peny or
too.  Also, Sensei recommended that if I could find it the
mini-series: James Clavell's - Shogun. To my surprise it was there as
well, and I had to swipe it up... overall $300 later...

But I just finished Shogun last night and I must say it was an amazing
series... I haven't watched the bonus edition DVD yet, but I will.

Seven Samurai and the other films will be next week. That's my plan and I'm sticking too it...

I also broke up the Zatoichi: The Blindswordsman (remake) and I must
say that movie was also really well done. Not cheesy at all.

Happy Birthday to me... another year older...god time flies

It was a quite bday... 26, went to work... came home, went out to
dinner with family, grandparents... got drunk on Crown and Coke... and
then finished a half of a half bottle of Sake that I had purchased and
    never finished...

That was about it.. came into work today witha slight hangover, but it was a quite day as well...

    Nothing to report.

    Movie time ... Movie Time!

Last Friday and Saturday I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I thought this film
was  a great pre-film for Batman Begins, which starts this
Wednesday.. Due to JJ I wont be seeing it until Friday night ... I have
a feeling that this film (batman) will give the franchise the necessary
    boost it so desperately needed...

But right now i need sleep and I have Boo on my lap

Vx tired and blurry eyed... ...zzzzzzzzz

  • Ok, now the gods of Azeroth and in general are pissed off at me and I don't know why...

Just to let you know, my computer has been on the fritz... I mean, we
are talking, Blue screen of death after blue screen of death.... It
started in World of Warcraft, then in general while I was surfing... I
think I've ruled out RAM... or even software.. but I won't know until
    it happens again...

I've been reading over the sites that talk about the win32k.sys error and blue screen, sometimes it helps, sometimes not.

My guess is, is that I will have to get a new set of RAM for my computer... I'm really not looking forward to that.

I'll probably just do a massive ram test tonight and go see a movie.
I'm thinking about seeing Kicking and Screaming, not sure yet.

    Any suggestions?

    ------------------

    Quote of the Day:

I know I haven't done this in ages..

JJ class (whoa, what a surprise there)... Dan and myself were chatting
in general and the question of equipment came up (we were told to wear
    cups)

Vx: So, did you bring your hardware today? (Audiable sound of knocking on hard plastic)
Dan: Yup, and obviously you did too *chuckles*
Vx: I wonder how many will have it on?
Dan: well there wasn't that many in class last week...
Vx: True true.. I mean, it's not like Sensei is going to line us up and test it out with a swift kick...
    Dan: You never know... *laughs*

Vx going to the movies.. see what's up

  • Today is the Year of the Rant.. let thy ranting begin, be it large or small

As it is now written so shall it be ;)

I proclaim this day in blog history to be the day... no, month... no,
year yes that's it... the year of the rant.  The paperwork will be
enormous but hey, for a year of ranting, there is nothing that I
    wouldn't do.

I have noticed that not many people come by to visit the site. It's
understandable.  I mean, I am greatful, the faitful few:
    Magicbeanstalk, Framewerkz, NecessaryTurpitude, Redneck_Confessionals,
Flyttsky82, RedEyeMonster2, and probably many others that have
commented once in a blue moon.

I know that my life is truly boring: play games, sleep, eat, work, JJ
(oh, I'm sure that you are all sick of my work/JJ/sleep posts :P I know
I am).  That my family life is without a doubt, probably the most
boringest thing that you have ever read. No way I can spice it up to
become entertaining, not like they are taking chairs to the backs of
each other's heads... no, that would be considered sports entertainment
and I'd probably be sued by the WWF... er... WWE that is.

There is a new video up on the website: www.krjj.com

It features our former Master Dionne and Sensei 1 and Sensei 2 in about
a 5 minute video compliation.  It is truly amazing in the
simplisity of the moves etc, it defeintely makes me want to go on to
    bigger and better things.

My most recent MSN messenger title was:  Oh! A Penny, let's not
all spend it at once and 1.5 overtime is only as good as the time you
put in...  I don't know why but I thought they were funny things
    that I just made up.

This is more of a random ranting since I haven't posted in a week and
honestly I think it is easier to cram in a week's worth of misc. info
about myself and make it more entertaining than just one post at a time.

    What do you think?

Ok. Now I'm  off to celebrate a birthday... not mine... No mine is
on June 13th, donations/presents are appreciated :D or just comments
    those work too...

Off for the Tim Horton's run

Catch you all on the other side
